How we work
Old drafts.
New tools.
How we see design, what starts a piece, the stages it moves through, and how we work with partners.
How we see design
Three habits behind every page, cover and garment.
Structure first
Every piece starts on a grid. The frame is drawn first, and everything else sits inside it.
One accent
Ink, bone and a single colour that carries the work. Each brand we make gets a colour of its own.
The working shows
Stages, versions and specs are set where you can read them, at the same care as the headline.
What starts a piece
Most of our work begins with something that already exists.
An old page
A sketchbook, a script, a line of clothing. Many of our titles were written or drawn years before we could finish them.
Someone else's story
Partner work starts from what the partner already has: their music, their gallery, their product.
A new tool
Sometimes a tool arrives that makes an old idea possible to finish.
The stages of creation
Every title on the slate carries one of these.
Development
The story and the world are written or drawn. Drafts exist, and the shape is still changing.
Pre-production
The plan is set. Scripts, designs and the release format are prepared.
Production & release
The finished work is made, then released. Until then, working versions are sold with their stage named.
How a partnership runs
Identities, sites and products for musicians, galleries and young brands since 2019.
Start with a note
Write to us on the contact page with what you're making and where it stands.
Identity first
The mark, type and colour are set before anything is built, so every surface grows from one system.
Then the build
The site, shop or product is designed and built on that identity, desktop and phone together.
